MERRITT, RITA - Surrounded by her loving family, at her residence, April 19, 2014, Mrs. Rita Merritt of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 81 years. She was the wife of Richard A. Merritt whom she married in 1952. Born at Kedgwick in 1933, she was a daughter of the late Phydime and Marie-Anne (Ouellette) Pelletier. Mrs. Merritt and her husband owned and operated The Merritt Press Ltd. for several years, retiring in 2013. She is survived by her husband, Richard, children, Stephen (Murielle Michaud) of Chatham, Ontario, John (Jacqueline Dionne) of Quesnel, BC, Gregory (Cheryl) of Stony Plain, AB, Ann Dickinson (Robert Hargrove) of Woodstock and Tom of Grand Falls, nine grandchildren, Melanie, Jesse, Stephanie, Michael, Jennifer, David, Scott, Mason and Brent, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Edgar (Therese) of Nakina, Ontario and Gerald (Claudette) of Geraldton, Ontario, three sisters, Anita Pelletier of St-Sauveur, Quebec, Gisele Fraser (Robert) of St-Lazard, Quebec and Marie Pelletier of Chambly, Quebec, sisters-in-law, Lucille, Lucette and Onilda, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Corey Dickinson, as well as siblings, Edmond, Gerard, Edmee, Edna, Bertha, Noella and Edouard.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls.
