It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Elaine Ferneyhough, on Monday, April 21, 2014 at home.
Born in Sydney Mines on January 3, 1947, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (MacDougall) MacKeigan.
Elaine was a devout and faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, and a member of the North Sydney Pensioner’s Club. She also loved the dances at the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club on Saturday night.
She is survived by her son Bill, Florence; and daughters Patsy, Florence, and Karen (John Shepherd), Sydney Mines. Also left to mourn are her loving grandchildren; Brian and Nicole Johnson, Kristen, Brandon and Alana Ferneyhough, and James and Morgan Campbell. She is also survived by sisters Joan Hunter, Truro, Willena (Joe) Smolenaars, Ontario, Pat (Lawrence) Taylor, New Brunswick, Nadine (John) Hatcher, Ontario, and her brother Frank MacKeigan (Shauna), Sydney Mines. Elaine will be sadly missed by her many friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Raymond Ferneyhough; a brother Thane, and a sister Corinne MacKeigan.

Visitation for Elaine Ferneyhough will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, April 25, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. A reception will be held in the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club, following the service.
