Passed on: April 24th, 2014

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our sister, daughter, wife and grandmother, Jeannette, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Minto, NB, on November 19, 1949, she was the daughter of Betty Godreau and the late Nelson Godreau.
She enjoyed Bingo, puzzle books and music ‘down at the beach.’ Jeannette loved children, and enjoyed the time spent with her great nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Jeannette knew she had a heart of gold, and was always there to help a person in need.
Jeannette is survived by her husband Ron; mother Betty Godreau; sisters Doreen (John Mertens), Scotch Lake, and Elizabeth (Jack Penny), North Sydney; a brother Tom (Helen), Margaree; and grandchildren Ashton and Chelsea. Also left to mourn are a number of nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.
Besides her father Nelson, she was predeceased by a son Ryan in infancy.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
Donations in Jeannette’s memory may be made to the NS Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Lung Association.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
A special thank you to Dr. Paul MacDonald and all the wonderful nurses in the Cardiac Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the wonderful care given to Jeannette, and the compassion shown to us at this most difficult time.
