Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Angus and Mary (Munroe) MacDonald and was a member of the Church Of The Good Shepherd, Dominion.
Dad was a coal miner and worked in several mines during his working years. He retired early due to an injury but still enjoyed talking with other miners about the daily workings in the mines. Dad enjoyed the time he worked underground, the camaraderie amongst miners the story telling and the lasting friendships. He was also a member of Dominion Volunteer fire dept. Dad was a true family man, enjoying the earlier times spent on the hill in Gabarus with the extended Munroe and McDonald families and the more resent times at his cottage in Grand Mira South with his wife Judy, their children, grandchildren and friends.
