SMITH, Vera Lenora, Roseway Manor, Sandy Point, formerly of Atwood’s Brook passed away Thursday, April 24, 2013 at the Roseway Manor where she had been a resident since February. Born on March 22, 1930 at Clam Point, she was a daughter of the late John Albert and Mildred Louise (Nickerson) Sears. Vera enjoyed being at home and spending time with her family. When her health was still good she was happiest when she was baking. She was well known for her delicious homemade beans. When her health began to deteriorate she could always be found sitting in her chair by the window. She was a member of the Shag Harbour United Baptist Church. Vera is survived by her husband, Harold; sons, Fernwood (Trudy), Rickey (Pam) and Timmy; six grand-children; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Flora Atkinson, Lorraine Shand; brother, John Sears. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Bernice, Rowena; brother, Edwin; four childhood siblings, Fernwood, Phyllis, Vivian, Barbara Jean. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Saturday at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 27 at the Shag Harbour United Baptist Church, Pastor Phil Williams officiating, assisted by Vera’s grandson, Rev. Danny Smith. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Barrington Passage. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Shag Harbour Baptist Church or the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund. Special thanks are extended to the staff at the Roseway Hospital and the Roseway Manor for the wonderful care which was given to Vera.
