Glenn Graham Edison, 62, died in Mississauga ON, Tuesday, April 22nd 2014.
Through his involvement in the community our Dad focused his life on connecting with and supporting youth. As a mentor, coach, educator and colleague Dad worked to help members of his community to find a sense of confidence and agency to develop their potential. By encouraging thoughtful, reflective and open forum on important matters he sought to demonstrate one’s ability to bring positive influence to one’s own environment. His strongest message may have been to remind people of the process of learning - That it takes humility, the acceptance of where one is in light of where one wants to be, to approach the subject with wonder, and that it is an ongoing, dynamic process; “It’s not that you can’t do it, it’s that you can’t do it yet”, he would say…“If you fall off the horse, get right back on”. Taking teaching to heart in any role and offering his genuine care, Dad showed us all how a commitment to learning can foster a loving engagement with our surroundings. He was a proud and present Dad and Grandad. His steadfast love will live on within the character he instilled in us. Reflecting on his life, he said to us: “I did more good than anything else. I gave more than I took”.
With infinite gratitude, Grace & Gale Edison
