Thorpe, Walter Hartley - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Walter Thorpe of Fredericton, NB on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Veteran’s Health Unit. He was born in Fredericton, NB on October 1st, 1921 to the late William and Helen (Wandless) Thorpe and he was husband to Pamela (Germain) Thorpe. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Pamela; son, Ian (Linda) of Cambridge, ON; sister, Catherine Hale of Fredericton, NB as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; daughters, Diana and Eileen and his brothers, Royden, Donald and William “Bill” Thorpe.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm. The Rev. Canon John Sharpe will officiate. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a tribute at the memorial service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Golden Valley Cemetery, Val d’or, PQ.
