Keith Victor Baum
May 11, 1957 – April 16, 2014
Keith Victor Baum passed away suddenly while vacationing in Punta Perdiz, Cuba.
Pre-deceased by his father Victor Henry Baum, grandparents Henry and Kathleen Baum and Hugh and Violet Cameron.
Left to mourn his passing are his mother Dorothy Baum, sisters Vicki (Conrad) Schuster, Joanne (Leonard) Bueckert, Leslie Mae Stamm, and Debbie (Brian) Rollman. Nieces and nephews Shawn Schuster (children: Quinton, Tara, Konrad), Fawna Schuster (children: Megan, Rachel, Cassie), Robert (Alissa) Lewis-Erick (children: Brayden and Zachery), Greg (Natalie) Bueckert (children: Zachary, Xavier, Wyatt), Kerry Bueckert , Kristhopher Bueckert, Robin (Scott) Erick-Fuchs (children: Emily and Izak), Raven Stamm, Trevor Thibault. Also left to cherish his memory are many aunts and uncles, cousins and his special friends of Santa Clara, Cuba whom Keith considered his family -Yordani Calvo, his wife Orsninka, daughter's Kathrim and Kathleen(god daugther).
Keith was born and raised in Swift Current. He went to Oman Elementary School and Swift Current Comprehensive High School.
After graduating from High School, he worked various jobs in various locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan before settling back in Swift Current. In 1991, Keith started with Mobil Paving where he worked until his passing. He worked various jobs during the off season for paving with the last two winters at Vern's trucking.
Keith was a lifelong learner. Anything he wanted to know he took it upon himself to read, research and discover the answers. He taught himself among many things, Spanish, investing, wood working, mechanics, computers, and suping up his prized possessions his truck and mustangs.
He started trapping and hunting while he was in his teens. Fishing and boating were lifelong hobbies for Keith. In 1992, he certified for 100feet depth diving and discovered diving was one of his great passions. Keith loved working with his hands. He had a real talent for woodworking making decorative garden pieces and lawn furniture. Keith loved to work in his garage restoring his Mustangs and working on various projects. He always had a new gadget on hand to show anyone who was interested. He the families official photographer.
In 1990s, he made his first trip to Cuba, and fell in love with the country, the people, the language and the culture. His retirement dream was to buy a yacht, sail to Cuba and live on the water. He was already trying to figure a way to get his mustang into Cuba.
Keith was a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend and godfather. He would give anyone he cared about his last pair of grey sweat pants if need be. He will be missed!!!!!
Keith died doing what he loved, scuba diving in Cuba.
Keith's service will be held at Grace United Church officiated by Minster Ruth McArthur in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on May 5, 2014 at 2:00pm. Pallbearers are Shawn Schuster, Robert Lewis-Erick, Greg Bueckert, Kerry Bueckert, Floyd Barabe, and Brian Luchenski. Funeral arrangements are being made through Warren's Funeral Home of Swift Current. In lieu of flowers, donations to CNIB, The Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Swift Current SPCA would be appreciated.
