Elsie Percy, Sherwood Drive, Sydney River and lately of Parkland Estates, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on December 4, 1914, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Esther (Varga) Dakai.
Surviving are her nieces, Betty Polegato and Jean Rice; nephew, James Nagy; and grandnephews, David and Andrew Polegato.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar in 1966 and siblings, Margaret, Michael, Esther, Charlie and Jennie.
Elsie was a member of Trinity United Church and in later years, an adherent of the United Protestant Church of Sydney River. She graduated from the nursing program at the Sydney City Hospital and studied public health at McGill University. In 1978, Elsie retired from her position as Supervisor of Nurses, Cape Breton South.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
