ALMA JEAN LLOYD

ALMA JEAN LLOYD

Lloyd, Alma Jean (McClymont), of Debert, passed away at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro on Monday, May 5, 2014. She was 94 and a half years old. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lily (Rudd) McClymont of Mercyside, England. Mum’s home and their farmland was known as Yew Tree Farm. It was also the former lands and home of Robert Louis Stevenson and mum was so proud of this. She came to Canada as a war bride and was a “Canadian” as she put it, the rest of her life. Mum and Dad then settled in Bible Hill NS for a period of time and then moved to Toronto ON. Mum worked for many years at the Hallmark Card Company and then moved back to Nova Scotia where they settled in Debert. Mum then went to work at Polymer until she retired. In her very last years while she was able, mum enjoyed going to the VON Adult Day Care Program where she loved to sing her “Old English Songs” with her elderly lady friends. Mum also had the title of the “Newest and Oldest” member of the Debert Legion, Branch 106. Mum also loved her Toronto Maple Leaf hockey team and the Toronto Blue Jay’s baseball team, no matter if they lost or won. She also loved to watch her grandsons and great grandsons hockey, ball hockey and their baseball games. Our family would like to thank all the nurses on 3 D of the hospital, her family doctor’s and her home care workers who she looked and waited for every day. Mum is survived by 4 children, Pam (Basil) Mellroy, Debert; Les (Wanda) Lloyd, Masstown; Ken (Ethel) Lloyd, Great Village; Jimmy (Kathy) Lloyd, Toronto; 20 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, one in England and one in Australia. Mum was predeceased by her husband “Jim” of 74 years; 3 daughters, Sylvia, Carrol and Audrey and 2 brothers. Mum, we will always remember your final advice to us: “We may not have much money, but we certainly do see life.” Rest in Peace Mum. Mum’s wishes were to be cremated. No visitation or funeral service by her request. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Middle Road Cemetery in Debert. Pastor Bill Martin will officiate. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro.
