Donald Edward MacDonald, age 78, of Springhill NS passed away Sunday, May 4th in All Saints Hospital.
In his younger years Donnie spent many days with his cousin Danny hunting, fishing, and especially enjoying the horse races.
After his retirement from Surrette Battery, he enjoyed his early morning golfing practice, jigsaw puzzles, paint by numbers, and playing cards on his computer.
His daily trips to town, coffee visits, and Friday shopping trips with Jane were always greatly enjoyed. Holidays and family dinners were spent with Jane and Pop, nieces Marlene and Chrissy, and nephew in law Derrick, with whom he had a special relationship.
Donnie was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Winnie MacDonald, and nephew Larry Boss.
He is survived and fondly remembered by sister Jane(Pop) Boss; brothers Dennis (Donna), Robert (Karen), and Jack; special cousin Danny (Eleanor) MacDonald, Aunt Kay MacDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Keeping with Donnie’s wishes, there will be a graveside service which will be held at Hillside Cemetery Thursday, May 8th at 11:00, with a reception to follow at the Springhill Fire Hall.
The family would like to express their utmost appreciation to the staff of Continuing Care; the Palliative Care Team, especially Jolyne Saulnier and Cindy Oickle; and the nursing staff at All Saints Hospital, for their kindness and wonderful level of care they provided in making his time with us as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
