Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at home in the presence of her loving family, Alice Carmel Whalen (nee Smith) age 79 years. Predeceased by her parents William and Mary Smith, husband Jim, sons Jimmy, Terry and Eddy and brother Jack. Leaving to mourn their sad loss sons Jack (Glennis) and Darrell, daughters Debbie (Derm), Dean and Margie (Bernard); sisters Marie Brennan, Helen Fullington and Margie Barrett; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May12, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with cremation to follow. Inurnment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
