With sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Ella 'Elli' Jonuschies, age 89, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at her residence.
Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, she was a daughter of the late Eduard and Lydia (Schmidt) Mayer. She immigrated to Canada in 1950, spending the years since in the Toronto area, until moving to Cape Breton in 2013. She was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Etobicoke, Ont. for over 50 years.
Elli is survived by her daughters, Monika (Robert) Dolomont, North Sydney, with whom she resided, Heidi Jonuschies, Port Credit, Ont.; her grandson, Erik Dolomont, Halifax; sister-in-law, Maureen Mayer and niece, Jeanette Mayer, both of Toronto.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Wilhelm 'Willie' Breitzler and her second husband, Hans Jonuschies and also by her brother. Kurt Mayer.
A funeral service for Elli will be held 3 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
