Baron: Charlene Wanda Baron, age 57, of Swift Current, Sk. passed away peaceful at home on April 30, 2014. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from the First United Church with Pastor Brad Julien and Reverend Sharon Ferguson Hood Officiating. The Pianist was Sharon Veer. The Life Tributes were presented by her cousin, Rhonda Wudrick and her brother Blaine Baron. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. The Interment Service took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, Sk. Charlene is survived by her husband Randy Ekdahl; her three children; Elissa (Royce) Nast, Jeremy (Tara) Baron and Brandi Baron; two special grandsons; Kaiden and Markus, her parents Philip and Beatrice; two brothers Kerry (Susan) Baron and Blaine (Tanice) Baron; 2 nephews, three nieces and two great nephews and nieces and her mother and father-in-law Ernie and Grace Ekdahl. She was predeceased by her brother Terry Baron, grandparents Albert and Ida Krause, and Henry and Barbara Baron. Charlene was born in Swift Current on June 29, 1956. She attended school at Oman School, W.A. Beatty and Swift Current Comprehensive High School. Char started work at the age of 16 at the Swift Current Care Centre in the Laundry Facility and then moved in to the Activity Department, were she worked for Thirty years. In 2004, she moved to the Cypress Regional Hospital to take a position as a Ward Clerk in Maternity. She then moved into Tele health and then finally into Administration. In 2013, Char received recognition for 40 years of service with the health district. Char had many hobbies. One of her favorites was quilting, which she spent many hours doing with her grandma and kept up the tradition after her grandmas passing. She also loved camping, yard work, gardening and in later years, riding along side her soul mate Randy on long motorcycle trips. Char was a beautiful, spirited, wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, auntie and friend. Her love and compassion for her husband, family and friends was boundless and she always had a smile for everyone she saw. Char fought her two years battle with cancer, with the heart of a warrior, never focusing on the negative, always managing to find the strength for others and keeping her hope alive. Words are not enough to express how much Char inspired all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Char's spirit will live on for generations to come.
