Passed on: May 13th, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Lincoln MacKenzie on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Ross Ferry, Boularderie on November 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Rod and Katherine (MacDonald) MacKenzie.
Lincoln’s entire career was spent in the autobody repair field. He worked at several local dealerships until 1982, then became an Autobody Repair Instructor with the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School, until retirement in 1991. Lincoln was known for his quiet nature and was always a “gentle” man. He was dedicated to his family and never hesitated to give a helping hand. In his early years of retirement, Lincoln enjoyed mastering the art of woodworking, taking pride in the tables he produced, which are proudly displayed in our homes. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Sydney.
Surviving are his two sons, Stuart (Florence) and Clair (Gwen) and three grandchildren, Chris, Lynn and Craig. He is also survived by his brother, Donnie (Blanche), Waltham, Mass., and their families.
Besides his parents, Lincoln was predeceased by his wife, Bessie; daughter, Kathryn Lynn in infancy; and sister, Marguerite.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
We, the family, would like to thank the staff of 3A at the CBRH and palliative care services for their compassion and care.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
