Donald Bruce Pringle - 93, formerly of Port Williams, Kings County, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 in the DVA Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Port Colborne, Ontario, he was a son of the late John and Estella (Leslie) Pringle. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a former member of two Royal Canadian Legion branches, No. 56, Port Colborne and Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He was also involved with various bands as a bandmaster, sang with the Dukes of Kent, served as an officer with several Sea Cadet Corps and volunteered with Family and Children Services and Big Brothers. He retired from the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He is survived by two daughters, Sharron (Stewart) Scheibel, Nanaimo, British Columbia and Jennifer Eaton, Kentville; a son, Lt. Commander (Rtd.) Leonard (judi) Pringle, Cobble Hill, British Columbia; a sister, Hazel Halliday, Prince Edward Island; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Greta Cochrane; three sisters, Geraldine, Marguerite and Jean; two brothers, Reginald and Douglas; a son-in-law, Doug Eaton. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Reverend Murray Shaw officiated. Donations in memory may be made to the Veteran's Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.
