MAHONEY, YVONNE MABEL - It is with great sadness that the family of Yvonne Mabel Mahoney age 95 of Amherst announce her passing on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Melrose, NB she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Butler) Mahoney. Yvonne gave many years as House Keeper for many Priests in Pugwash, Joggins and Amherst from 1956 to 1987. She was a member of St. Charles Parish, Amherst and a member of the St. Charles Prayer Group and a former member of the Catholic Women’s League, Melrose. Yvonne will be sadly missed by her niece Mary (Art) Chase of Sackville, NB and nephews Edward (Betty Jo) Brine of Campobello Island, NB and Lowell (Roberta) Brine of Riverview, NB. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Eileen Brine, Adele Mahoney and infant sister Alice and nephew Walter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS. (902-667-9906) Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Melrose, NB. Memorial donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the Holy Family Church or the charity of your choice.
