We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Bernard MacDougall, on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 25, 1948, he was the son of Catherine (MacInnis) MacDougall and the late Neil J. MacDougall.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers Adrian (Patsy), Charlottetown, Neil (Marilyn), Sydney Mines, Brian (Maria), Mexico, Leo (Carolyn), Squamish, BC, Hugh James (Betty Lou), Sydney Mines, John, Calgary, and Alex (Arlene), Dartmouth, and sisters Monica Serroul, Genevieve, and Christena (Richard Hall), all of Halifax, Georgena (Tommy Buffett), Groves Point, and Marguerite (David Rushton), Dartmouth.
Visitation for Bernard MacDougall will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall, following the Mass.
Donations in Bernie’s memory may be made to the Cancer Center, or to Palliative Care.
