It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Elizabeth 'Tootie' Thwaites, on May 16, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Dutch Brook on September 25, 1935.
Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Canadian Coast Guard College. She was also a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 12 and 138.
Tootie is survived by her son Paul (Judy), Barrie Ont.; daughters Theresa (Dana) MacQueen, Bedford, NS, Debbie Delaney, Sydney; a brother Frank (Patricia) Dairou, Dutch Brook; grandchildren Bill, PJ, Brandon, Jennifer, Melissa, Michael, Christopher, Cheryl, Aaron, Brittany; four very special great grandchildren Broady, Alexander, Lilly and Emma; special nieces Janice, Lesley, and grand niece Kayleigh.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul Murray Thwaites and her mother Mary Dairou.
Visitation will be held Tuesday May 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7–9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
