Catherine Parsons, 84, Popes Harbour passed away Suddenly Monday, May 19, 2014 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born July 7, 1929 in Rensontre East, NL, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin & Ivy (Kearley) James. In her earlier years Catherine worked as a nurses aid in Burgeo, N.L. She enjoyed reading, gardening, raising her children and had a great faith, a love for all the families and her grandchildren. Survived by her husband of 48 years Harry, Popes Harbour, sons Danny, Popes Harbour, James (Teri), Carbonear, NL, Ronald Tortorella, Alta, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one sister, Paulette (Daniel) Burke, Grand La Piere, NL, two brothers, Edward (Mary) James, Grand La Piere, Murdock James, Paradise, N.L. Predeceased by sister Josephine Barter. No visitation, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held Friday, May 23rd at 2:00 P.M. in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 #7 Highway, Sheet Harbour, Rev. Melissa Frankland officiating. Burial at a later date in Newfoundland.
