It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John McEvoy on Tuesday, May 21, 2014, with his wife by his side, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Neil’s Harbour, he was the son of Mrs. Eileen (Timmons) McEvoy and the late Bennett McEvoy.
John was a fisherman by trade and enjoy going out to sea.
John is survived by the love of his life and soul mate, wife of 39 years, Gail (Rozsa), his sons, Roy(Sharon) McEvoy, Mount Uniack, Quentin McEvoy, Grand Etang, Justin McEvoy, Pleasant Bay, two precious grandchildren, that were his whole life, Cale and Jayme. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Capstick, Cheticamp, Brenda (Arlie) Fitzgerald, Pleasant Bay, Della (Kenneth) MacKinnon, Sugar Loaf, Sylvia (Skippy) Urquhart, Whycocomagh, many nieces and nephews, as well as a very special cousin, who he thought of as a sister, Colleen Hill.
Cremation has taken place. A committal service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Pleasant Bay Cemetery, Pleasant Bay.
The family would like to thank Drs. MacLachlan and D’Intino, the staff and the wonderful nurses on the Palliative Care unit especially Mary and Anne Louise for the care given to John, he thought of you all as 'his angels".
