Clarence William Reid

Clarence William Reid, 96 years of age, of Amherst, formally of Truemanville passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014. Born in Fenwick he was a son of the late Charles & Katherine (Smith) Reid.
Clarence owned and operated his own farm up until his retirement at the age of 71. In later years he was a member of the Sunrise Trinity United Church in Amherst Head and when in Warren, he attended and supported the Warren Baptist Church, was a trustee of the Warren Cemetery and a former Secretary/Treasurer of the local school board in Warren. Clarence was a member of the Short Horn Association.
He is survived by his wife the former Eva Atkinson; Daughters Jeanette Reid of Halifax, NS, Paulette Martin of Empress, AB;; step sister, Barbara Jane Stevens (Robert) of Bridgewater, NS; Brother Edmund Reid (Christine) of Dartmouth, NS; step brother Maynard Carter (Joan) of Amherst, NS; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grand children & 4 great great grandchildren; Sherry Lynn Yvong and family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Clair & Wayne in infancy; sister, Lauris Lewis, Josephine Trebbne, step sister, Margaret Grant, an infant brother.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. where the family will receive visitors on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 7-9 p.m.. Funeral service will be held at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. Burial to take place in the Warren Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Warren Cemetery or the Salvation Army or charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Centennial Villa for their compassion and care while Clarence was there.
