Susan Leyden
LEYDEN, SUSAN KATHLEEN - Susan Kathleen Leyden died on May 26, 2014 after a brief illness. She was 62 years old. Susan was born in London, England and it was there that she met her future husband, Douglas, who was backpacking in Europe at the time. In 1972, they travelled together overland to India and then onto Australia. Back in London in 1976 they were married and in the spring moved to Canada. Susan became a Canadian Citizen in 1981. She worked for Scotiabank and then in 1982 began studies at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John. She “loved every minute of it” and went on to complete undergraduate degrees in Arts and Education. Afterwards, she worked as a supply teacher and taught in the GED program at the New Brunswick Community College until poor health brought on by Multiple Sclerosis prevented her from continuing with a teaching career. Susan loved live theatre, the symphony, music and books. She often quoted lines from her favorite poet, Robert Frost: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Susan is survived by her husband, one brother, aunts, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home in Saint John, (646-2424). At Susan’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. To send a message of condolence please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com.
