­NEW GLASGOW ­– Benjamin “Alton” Ross Bugden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Born in Cumberland Co., he was the son of the late Benjamin and Josephine (Mooring) Bugden.
Alton was employed for 47 years with Hawker Siddeley (Trenton Works). He proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany, Holland and France during World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 New Glasgow. He was a faith filled follower of Christ. Alton enjoyed the great outdoors. Above all, he enjoyed being a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
Alton is survived by his loving wife Muriel; children, Tim (Natalie) and Jill; grandchildren, Noah and Nikki. Alton is also survived by sisters: Jean, Elizabeth, Anna, Muriel and Bertha; brothers: Neil, William and Gordon.
He was predeceased by sisters Ada and Verna, brothers: Scott, Leslie and Danny.
Alton’s family will receive visitors from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 30 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Caroline Barclay officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
Donations in memory of Alton may be made to the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou.
Branch 34 Royal Canadian Legion will hold their tribute service at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
