Phyllis Lorraine Daley
Passed in: Dartmouth
Passed on: May 27th, 2014
Phyllis Lorraine Daley passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 27, 2014, with family at her side at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and kind friend. She was the daughter of the late Mary and James Tolan, Saint John, N.B.
Phyllis was predeceased by sisters, Constance Stanton and Dorothy Tolan, and brother Dr. Ronald Tolan.
Phyllis graduated from the Saint Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. Phyllis married Ranald Daley in 1957 and they moved to Nova Scotia where she pursued her nursing career. In 1975 she accepted a teaching position at the Cape Breton Business College where she worked until retirement.
In 2003 she relocated to Dartmouth to be near her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Patricia (Bruce MacNeil), Dartmouth, and Dorothy Daley, Kansas; and grandchildren, Cailean, Morgan and Liam MacNeil.
Always quick of wit and sharp of mind right to the end, Phyllis never lost her sense of humour. She was an avid reader, an exceptional baker and a creative person who loved knitting and recently developed a passion for needlepoint.
Special thanks the staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital and Cole Harbour Family Medicine. We are indebted to Dr. Stephanie Hall and Dr. Hillary Kinnear for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Phyllis.
Visitation will be Friday, May 30, from 7-9 p.m with a service celebrating Phyllis’ life to be held 10 a.m.., Saturday, May 31, 2014, both in Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Rd., Cole Harbour.
