Passed peacefully away surrounded by his granddaughter Gina and great-granddaughter Renée at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion - Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, on Thursday, May 29, 2014, George Hutchings, in his 96th year. Predeceased by his wife Beaulah (1992); parents: Eliakim and Marie Hutchings; brothers: Jack, Fred and Clayton; sisters: Bertha English and Mae Escott; and niece Patricia Escott. Leaving to celebrate his life, his sons: Frank (Joan) of St. John's, and George (Marilyn) of Ontario; his daughter, Patricia (Jack Hannah) of Ontario; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild, Amber; many nieces and nephews - including special niece Louise Escott; and large circle of extended family and friends. A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Pavilion who were like a second family to George. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from Barrett's Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 2:00pm, with interment to follow at the Field of Honour, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Dylan and Desmond Jordan, and Frankie Hutchings Jr.; as well as great great-granddaughter, Amber Hutchings.
