McCONNELL, MAUDIE A. - Maudie A. McConnell, 95, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, May 30, 2014. Born in Pictou, NS, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Maude (Fowler) Chappell. Maudie was retired from the Mail Order Department of the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. and was a member of Hillside Baptist Church and the Hillside Baptist Church Seniors Group. In past years, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was an excellent cook – especially her pies – and spending time with her family and friends. Maudie will be sadly missed by her loving children, Joyce Johnson (Reg) of Moncton, Nedra Hamilton (Reg) of Milford, NS, Karen Hamilton (Chester) and Edward “Bud” (Kathleen), both of Moncton; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; twin brother, Murray Chappell of Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews; and long time friend, Dorothy Nickerson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John K. McConnell (2001); brothers, Cecil, Harold, Walter, Frank and Hugh.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Gordon Horsman officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
