GIBSON, JOY - It is with tremendous sadness, the family announces the passing of Joy Gibson, wife of Gordon Gibson, which occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 30, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Joy was born in Saint John to the late Louis and Marion (Walton) Breen. Joy was known throughout our community as the most caring, loving and patient individual around, she was a best friend to many. She enjoyed listening and dancing to music. Joy spent her early working career as a payroll accountant for the Long Shoreman's in Ontario, later moving on to work as an admistrator at CNIB on Manawagonish Road. Joy found and enjoyed her calling in life as a real estate agent in Saint John, working for 30+ years making friendship's with everyone she encountered. Joy always had a smile on her face and taught many courses to her Real Estate collegues, many considering Joy a mentor. Besides her loving husband; Gordon, Joy is survived by her two cherished daughters Karen Gillcrist-Gibson (Paul) and Michelle Gibson both of Saint John, NB, sister; Marlene Breen of Saint John, NB, and special best friend and cousin Faye Clawson of Saint John. She is also survived by her very important grandchildren; Brayden, Emilee and Jaxon. Besides her parents, Joy was predeceased by her siblings; John (Jackie) Breen, Brian Breen and Lorraine Butler.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, (646-2424). Visitation for Joy will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM and Tuesday, June 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 4 from Saint Peter's Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
