Passed peacefully away with his family by his side at the Caribou Veterans Pavillion, St. John's on Monday June 2, Gideon Samms of Turks Cove in his 87th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Deliliah (2011), son Gary and daughter in law Blanche (2010). He will be lovingly remembered by his children Milton (Audrey), Gene (Marja), Gale (Niall Butt), Jill (Charles Noel) and John (Denise). Pop will also be greatly missed by his 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Gid worked for Nfld Light and Power until he retired in 1984 and moved to Turks Cove to enjoy his retirement fully. Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Green's Funeral Home, Winterton. Visiting hours Thursday 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Friday June 6 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lukes Anglican Church, Winterton. Private family burial to take place.
