Fraser Nicholson
Passed in: Australia
Passed on: May 31st, 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Fraser Nicholson announce his passing on 31 May in Canberra, Australia after a short, courageous and inspirational battle with cancer. Fraser was born in Montague Prince Edward Island, the second son of the late Eileen and Lloyd Nicholson. Fraser is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Annette (Wright), his children: Jenna, Vancouver; son Jordan (Anisa), Houston, Texas; and Catherine (Mike Kennah) St. John’s; and their mother Mary Lou Nicholson, Fredericton. Fraser is also survived by his siblings: sister Eileen (Scott) Johnston, of Summerside, P.E.I.; and their children Kelly, Heather and Jillian, all of whom had a special place in their Uncle’s heart; and Fraser’s eldest brother Ian ( Kathy) Nicholson, Stonewall, Manitoba. Fraser brought light and laughter to everyone around him and his joy was derived from those he loved. He had many cherished friendships around the world and lived the philosophy “Where ever you go, go with all your heart”. Fraser was a proud Islander who never forgot his roots in P.E.I. and returned to the Island regularly, usually in time for Old Home Week. Fraser built a successful public service career working in PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan and achieved his lifelong career goal of becoming a Deputy Minister. Fraser left the public service in 2002 when he was recruited to join EDS, a company that later merged with HP. After a short but notable time with EDS Canada, Fraser’s international career commenced when was asked to move to Australia to become the EDS Account Executive for the South Australian Government Account. Fraser and Annette spent several very happy years in Adelaide, building lifelong friendships and developing Fraser’s passions for red wine and Harley Davidsons. A three-year assignment in London, UK as the Account Executive for the Ministry of Justice followed. Along with enjoying life in Central London, Annette and Fraser enjoyed travelling through Europe during that time. Fraser happily returned to Australia in 2010 to become HP’s Account Executive for the Australian Tax Office. Fraser’s leadership abilities cultivated loyalty and respect wherever he worked, building friendships which endured time and geography. Although Fraser’s professional accomplishments were well recognised, his children were his greatest pride and gave him the most fulfilment. A celebration of Fraser’s life will be held 6 June 2014 in Canberra, Australia with a memorial service to be held in P.E.I. at a later date.
