Eugene Walter Blocka passed away at home on Tuesday June 10th after a battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his son Todd Blocka, his daughter Jada (Ted) Pfeifer and his two grandchildren Lily and Holly. He is also remembered by his sisters Fran, Edith, Pat (George), Carol (Bev), and his brother Ted (Pauline) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John and Olga Blocka and a brother Rudy Blocka. Dad was born on October 6th 1938 and grew up on the family farm near MacDowell, Sk. before moving to his own farm nearby later on. He then relocated with his family to Saskatoon, where he lived for many years working as a general contractor. He spent the last 16 years of his life in High River, Ab. where he was known for his flower beds and amazingly green lawn. Dad had many friends and couldn't walk anywhere without running into someone he knew and stopping to chat. He was always willing to lend a hand and would help out anyone who needed it. Cremation to be handled by Snodgrass Funeral Homes in High River. Remembrance service to be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the High River Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Dad during his stay there. Donations in his name may be made to the High River Hospital Cancer Centre Expansion.
