November 12, 1930 - June 15, 2014): Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit at the L. A. Miller Centre June 15, 2014, a very special devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend at the age of 83 years surrounded by her loving daughter and family members. Predeceased by her loving husband Frank (Jan 2012); parents Isabel and Leo Layman; sisters Bridget Shute, Angela Woods, Irene Layman, and Gen Adams; brothers Patrick, Michael, Leo, Gregory and John. Left to mourn with broken hearts are her much loved and cherished daughter Judy Anne (Mike); her treasured and adored granddaughter Taylor (Nan's little girl); and Taylor's father Dave. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her brothers Wally (with whom she resided) and Ern; her sister Isabel Layman; special nieces Judy Foley (Philip, Brittany), Ros O'Leary (Kev, Krystle), Joan and Anne Woods as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Veronica & Junior Thistle, Brenda King & Richie Murphy, Darlene Tizzard and Carol White. Special thanks to Dr. Andrew Hutton for his excellent care and compassion over the years and for his frequent home visits during her illness; Father Kelly for his home visit, Father Vargesse Devas and Father Francis Roche for their blessings in her final hours; and Dr. Rideout, Dr. Eaton and the exceptional nurses of the Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care during her short stay. They are truly special people who provide the utmost care to our loved ones. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday, June 17 from 1 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 18 from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with internment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers grateful accepted or donations in Kay's memory may be made to the Newfoundland & Labrador Down Syndrome Society or the Palliative Care Unit of the L. A. A mother's love is a blessing and I was blessed to have had such a wonderful mother who thought the world of me. I will never forget you. You will live in my heart forever Mom.
