STEEVES, EARL MANSFIELD - 1924 - 2014 - Earl M. Steeves, 89, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital. Earl was born in 1924 the son of the late John Michael and Sarah Amelia (Steeves) Steeves. He was a member of the Valley Baptist Church. He worked at T.Eaton & Company until his retirement, also working at CN and the Gypsum Company over the years. He loved working on his farm, he was a hard worker and loved spending time in the fields, gardening and also cutting wood. When he was enjoying life the best he was in the outdoors tending to his animals. Earl was a Veteran having served with the North Shore Regiment and was wounded in the D-Day Invasion. He was an animal lover and had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially his current dog, Jake. Earl will definitely be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humour, he always had a story or joke to tell. His family was very important to him and he was a very dedicated and caring husband, dad and grampy. He has left us with a great legacy to treasure and he will definitely live on in our hearts forever. " He is now at peace with nature and with God." He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Audrey (Steeves); daughter, Cheryl McIvor (Alan) of Hillsborough; son, Eric Steeves (Debbie) of Albert Mines; three grandsons, Adam, Andrew, Jonathan and a granddaughter, Jill; three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons; sister, Laura Steeves of Hillsborough; brother, Walter Steeves of Hillsborough; sisters-in-law, Cora Steeves of Hillsborough, Virginia "Babe" Berry of Delta, BC, Norma Steeves of Edgett's Landing, Janet Steeves of Riverview and Betty Wright (John) of Albert Mines; brother-in-law, Oran Smith of River Glade. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, George, Carl, Malcolm; sisters, Helen and Florence.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, June 21st, 2014 at 2:30pm with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be in the River View Cemetery, Hopewell Cape, NB. In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
