Peacefully at Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, of “Alice” Marian Birch, wife of the late Budd Birch, formerly of Belmont, aged 100 years. Born in Hunter River, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Jane (Smith) MacRae. Survived by her son, Wendell (Irene) ShankleBirch, Central Lot 16; former daughter-in-law, Ena Joy Birch, Belmont, grandchildren, Randy (Valerie) Birch, Middle Sackville, N.S., Rodney (Valerie) Birch, Kingston, Ont., Susan Birch (David), Vancouver, B.C., great-grandchildren Thomas, Curtis and Nicole Birch, Middle Sackville, and several nieces and nephews. Alice was the last surviving member of her family. Predeceased by sisters, Janie (Will) Younker, Laura (Earl) Carter, Bertha MacRae, brothers, Earl (Mary Clark), Percy (Luetta Stetson) and Fred (Ruby Stead). Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Interment in Belmont United Baptist Church Cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Belmont United Baptist Cemetery or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
