In Loving Memory of a good man.
William (Bill) Francis Gidney of Marshalltown passed away at home on June 15,2014. Bill was born in Digby January 17,1938. He was the son of Edith(Hazelton) and William Gidney, the oldest of twelve children. Bill retired from the Dept. of Fisheries in 1996. He worked as an off-shore surveillance officer and in later years, he captained fisheries patrol vessels closer to home. In his retirement years, Bill became a keen Amateur Radio operator, call sign VE1WFG. In passing he has joined the ranks of other "silent keys".Bill leaves behind his wife of 51 years Eleanor (Theriault), two sons, Randy William (Marla) and Mark Sanford; his mother Edith and step-father Lovett Trimper; two beautiful grand-daughters of whom he was so proud, Santana Eleanor and Claire Christina; sisters,
Linda (Wendell) Gregory, Pamela Gidney (David), Susan Gavel and brothers, Richard, Gregory (Sandy), Ralph (Barb), Michael (Paula) and Paul (Lola) and many nephews and nieces. Bill was pre-deceased by his father, William, brother John and two sisters in infancy. A celebration of life will be held at Grace United Church, Digby, on Saturday, June 21,
presided over by Rev. Simone Wilson. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date. No flowers by request.
