Smith, R. Leon “Hank” – 84, of Five Islands passed away, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Carroll and Elsie (Fielding) Smith. He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn McCarthy; daughter, Sheila Croft, Truro; sisters, Noreen Lewis (Morton), Five Islands; Carol Shea (Mike), Fenwick; brothers, Elwyn “Ted” (Eva), Upper Economy; Keith (Darlene), Bass River; Arnold (Annette), Economy; John, Fenwick; Robert, Economy; grandchildren, Melanie Faulkner (Corey Bartlett), Truro; Sarah Jane Pinner (Phillip), Stoney Plain, Alta.; Brian Faulkner (Laura Lee), Truro; great grandchildren, Keagan Faulkner, Caleb and Riley Pinner; mother in law, Grace Chambers, Five Islands; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister in infancy; brothers, Leroy and Frank. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday [June 22, 2014] at Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the Lower Five Islands Cemetery. Reception to follow at Peniel United Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Program of South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro.
