It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Cecil Tobin on June 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on December 2, 1929 he was a son of the late Robert Pius and Anastasia ( Glogowski ) Tobin.
He was a devoted husband and father who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was a devout member of Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines.
Cecil was retired from Nova Scotia Power after 38 years’ service as Accounts Payable Supervisor and Storekeeper. He was Manager-Treasurer of the Electric Employees Credit Union Ltd for 26 years and President of CBRT and GW Local Union.
He is survived by his brother Gerald; sons Paul (Debbie), Robert (Vicki) Vancouver and Brennen (Lorna) Halifax; daughters Marie (James) Noble, Joan (David) Prince, Patricia (Mort) MacKinnon, all of Sydney Mines and Monica at home, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Cecil was predeceased by his wife Nora of 57 years and daughter Laura; brothers Joseph, Stanley, Frederick, Emmanuel, and Richard.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, June 24th at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines officiated by Fr. Thomas John Valiaveetil. Internment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery followed by a reception in the parish hall.
