
Beulah Olsen
Olsen, Beulah V. – 83, of Parrsboro passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro surrounded by her loving family. Born in Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late William and Gladys (Townsend) Baker. Beulah’s first job was at the Grand Hotel in Yarmouth where she was a waitress. She later worked with Irving Oil as a secretary. In 1961, she was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Anderson who was a fisherman lost at sea in a storm that broke Lockeport’s heart. Beulah was one of the youngest mothers left with two children, Rebecca (Fulton) and Dale Anderson, both now of Parrsboro. She later married Lockeport town police officer, Herman Olsen on Christmas Eve in 1966, who predeceased her in 2006. They had one daughter, Laura Rowe (Dean), Parrsboro; a step-son, Gary Olsen (Emily), Parrsboro. In her later years, she was employed at South Cumberland Community Care Centre in the dietary department as a cook, retiring in 1995. She is also survived by a sister, Diane Stuart (Elmer), Lockeport; a brother, Harold Baker (Isabel), Lower Sackville. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Janet, Travis, Faith, Allie, Bryana, Deandra; a great granddaughter, Hope; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Leo. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Sunday [June 22, 2014] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. on Monday [June 23, 2014] at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating.
