The death occurred peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, of Lois Stevenson, formerly of Stratford and New Glasgow.
Lois was the beloved wife of the late Bob Stevenson; mother of Karen Stevenson (Gordon Miller) and Wayne (Jeanette); grandmother of Julie and Keith Stevenson; and David Miller; and great-grandmother of MacKenzie Stevenson. She is also survived by her brother, Harold MacDonald; sister-in-law Margaret Sellar; one cousin; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Gladys (Moreside) MacDonald; brother, Elmer G. and sisters-in-law, Laura and Jean MacDonald.
Lois was born in Wheatley River, P.E.I., on April 26, 1921 and grew up in New Glasgow, where she met her husband, Bob. Bob and Lois made their home in Saint John, N.B., after their marriage in 1942. Lois and Bob were active members of the Christian Church, the Gyro club and the Lois club, and had many friends throughout Canada. After retiring to New Glasgow in 1986, they started Rest-a-while bed and breakfast. Lois loved to cook, make quilts and entertain, but her family was the most important to her. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. Interment in New Glasgow Cemetery.
