Ernest Gordon Elliott

Ernest Gordon Elliott was born on Nov. 21, 1940. He was the youngest of seven children born to William and Maud Elliott. In 1966 he met and married Vida and during that time they raised three children. Family was the most important thing to Ern and he also got the pleasure of enjoying three wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ern worked very hard throughout his life at many jobs including fishing with his brothers Chesley and Wilbert to driving his own dump truck and running the family general store. He was a very talented accordion player and had a passion for playing music with his brother Wilbert. Ernest Gordon Elliott of Raleigh passed away on June 10, 2014, at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s. He leaves to mourn his wife Vida; daughter Paula (Jerome) Parrill; sons Paul (Cindy) and Kerry (Marcie); grandchildren Brandon (Marissa), Morrgan and Ryder; great-grandson Abel; sister Hazel Butt and brother Wilbert (Juanita); sister-in-law Myrtle Elliott and Rita Elliott, as well as a circle of other family and friends. His love and his music will be surely missed. Ern lived to see the passing of his father William Elliott, mother Maud Elliott, brothers Chesley, Kenneth and Ross, sister Phyllis Thistle, and sister-in-law Olive Elliott. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh, from where the funeral service took place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 with Rev. Gus Pendelton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
