Sarah Ellen 'Sadie' Blackwood, 89, of Ellsworth Avenue, New Waterford, passed away July 2, 2014, at home.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Peter George and Edith Eileen (MacNeil) MacKinnon.
Sadie was a member of the former St. Agnes Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. In earlier years, she was employed with the provincial and federal government. Sadie also worked at the New Waterford Medical Clinic.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband George Edwin Blackwood and one brother, Aloysius Joseph MacKinnon.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Saturday, July 5 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford.
