SWEEZEY, BYRON F. - 1919 - 2014 - Miramichi - Byron Fenwick Sweezey, husband of the late Arlene (MacInnis) Sweezey, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday evening, July 13, 2014, at the age of 95. Born in Napan Bay, N.B., on June 6, 1919, he was the son of the late James G. and Willamina (Jardine) Sweezey. He was a fisherman and fish buyer for many years; a carpenter and farmer; a lifelong member of Carmel United Church, Napan; a committee member of the Black River Community Cemetery Committee; a member of the Miramichi Chapter of the Highland Society. He is survived by two daughters, June Thompson, of Miramichi and Patricia Simmons, of St. Albert, AB (Charles); two sons, Carl Sweezey (Marjorie), of Moncton and J. Garth Sweezey (Jane), of Napan Bay; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Arlene MacInnis, in 2009; one grandson, Gregory Lee Thompson; seven sisters, Katherine Fowlie, Bertha Gilliss, Neva Williston, Hilda Taylor, Annie O'Donnell, Dottie Stymiest, infant Marion; three brothers, Frank, Ted and Mervyn Sweezey.
Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held from Carmel United Church, Napan, on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Black River Community Cemetery Fund or any charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated by the family.
