MacDONALD, GERTRUDE E. - 1915 - 2014 - Miramichi - Gertrude "Trudy" Eleanor MacDonald, widow of the late Byron H. MacDonald, of South Napan Road, passed away on Thursday morning, July 17, 2014, at the age of 99. Born in Napan, on January 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabella (Tallon) McKnight. She was Christian by faith and a homemaker; she, along with her late husband, Byron, were the founders and co-owners of Byron MacDonald Ltd. She is survived by three daughters, Gwen Dickson ( Elwin), of Napan, Dorothy MacDonald, of New Minas, N.S. and Peggie MacDonald (Darrin), of Miramichi; four sons, Dennis MacDonald, of Napan, Lockie MacDonald (Sharon), of Miramichi, Stephen MacDonald (Sandra), of Miramichi and Roy MacDonald (Wendy), of South Jordan, Utah, USA; two daughters-in-law, Linda MacDonald and Sharon Hurlburt; one son-in-law, David Upham; thirty-four grandchildren; fifty-eight grea-grandchildren; one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Byron, in 1983; two sons, Mark and Gerald; one daughter, Eleanor Upham; one grandson Larry MacDonald two sisters, Bella Nixon, Edith Fraser; two brothers, Cecil and Walter McKnight; two daughters in law Carole and Jessie.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, from 7 to 9 pm and Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Miramichi Agricultural Building (John Street entrance) on Tuesday, at 2 pm. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi. Please note - following the graveside service the family invites everyone back to the Miramichi Agricultural Building for a lunch and an opportunity to visit with the family.
