AUSTIN, Mary Ann - Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre, Mary Austin in her 96th year. Predeceased in 1976 by her husband James and in 1943 by her infant son Noel Douglas. Lovingly remembered by her son James (Patricia) and John; daughter Jennifer Whike (Alan), Caledon, Ont.; grandchildren James (Rebecca), David (Anna), Paige (Corey), Christopher (Erin), Trevor (Heather), Julian (Hilary), Alyson and Sarah; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Meta Tipple, Toronto, Ont.; sister-in-law Genevieve Murphy and many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5th, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the Anglican Cathedral. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the James E. Austin Memorial Scholarship at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s School of Music.
