McGOWAN, CATHERINE HAZEL -1939 - 2014 - Catherine McGowan, 75, of Moncton passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Bayfield, she was the daughter of the late Dana Spence and Dora Sprague. Catherine was retired from The Moncton Hospital. She attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, was a past president of MCA, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Moncton, Ladies Auxillary, where she received her 35 year pin, and was known by friends and family as one who was always there when needed. She will always be remembered by her loving family. She was the wife of Don McGowan; beloved mother of Peggy Sue Gillcash of Toronto, ON; Roger (Patty) Robinson of Dieppe; Rickey (Kim) Robinson of Surrey, BC; step-mother to Don (Sheila) of Burlington, ON; Marlene (Ron) Pond of Fredericton; Paul (Kerri) of Langley, BC; Joan McGowan of Fredericton; and Cathy (Tony) Cormier of Moncton; loving grandmother of Crystal, Trudie, Courtney, Lindsay, Jacqueline, Vanessa and Hunter; great-grandmother to Brady, Sara, Rhylee, Carson and Parker; an admired sister of Marilyn (Rodney) Walton of Murray Corner; Harold (Charlotte) Spence of Saskatoon, SK; John (Audree) Sprague of Harrow, ON; designated sister/cousin of Donna (David) Deware of Moncton; stepsister to Dana Jr., and Donna (Spence); adored step-daughter of Jack Sprague of Windsor, ON; and Lynne Spence; and a loved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed dearly by Sara Meyers, the Fearon family, the Robinson family and many special long-time friends. Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband Harold Fearon, son, Michael Robinson, and sisters, Diane McCann and Nancy Claninsmith.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007), on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with sharing of memories and parish prayers taking place at 8:30pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Botsford St., Moncton, on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11am with Father Caroll officiating.
