NEW GLASGOW – Raymond Murray MacQuarrie, age 84, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Westville, he was the son of the late Murray and Anna (White) MacQuarrie.
He was a former employee of Cameron and Fraser Ltd. and retired from Hawker Siddeley Ltd. as a physical tester. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, member of the Session and Board of Managers, Choir, Men’s Choir, Men’s Club and was former Superintendent of the Sunday School. In earlier years, he enjoyed square dancing with the Trenton Twirlers. He enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in Black Point with family.
He is survived by his wife the former Audrey Fraser; sons: Brent (Sara Fullerton), New Glasgow; Jeff (Natasha), Bathurst; grandchildren, Emily and Kirk; sister-in-law, Betty Fraser, Amherst; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday from First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow or a charity of choice.
