BYRNE, Allison E. (nèe Hedges)– December 21, 2008. Passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, AB, on December 21, 2008 surrounded by family members, Mrs. Allison Byrne, aged 80 years of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Predeceased by husband, Peter (January 1, 2006); parents, Edward and Sarah Hedges; sisters Geraldine (Les) Howell, and Bernice (James) Peddle; brothers, Edward (Anne) and Sim (Betty); brothers-in-law, Jim & Jack Byrne; sisters-in-law, Bride Foley and Minnie Beaton. Left to mourn with precious memories are daughters, Beverley (Bert) Anstey of Calgary, AB, Bonnie (Darroch) Vokey of Carbonear, NL, Joanne (Sean) Hynes of Calgary AB; sons, Edward (Madeline) of Mount Pearl, NL, Peter (Louise) of Pasadena, NL, Paul (Beda) of Okotoks, AB. Her grandchildren, who she cherished and loved so much, Brad and Brenda Anstey, Paul and Shelly Byrne, Peter (PJ) and Lisa Byrne, Heather, Renee, and Glen Vokey, Jessica, Samantha, Sara Byrne; great grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Elli, Brandon, Bailey, Lorelai and Tyler; brother, Robert (Georgina) Hedges of Eastport, NL; sisters, Jean (Don) Black of California, USA, Dot (Bob) Dunwell of California, USA; brother-in-law, Pat Byrne of Buchans, Sam (Marg) Byrne of Fogo Island, NL; sister-in-law Helen Byrne of Calgary, AB, Emma Byrne of Sudbury, ON, Amelia (Peter) Turrek of Winnipeg, MB; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and close friends. A family service will be held on December 23, 2008 in Calgary, AB; cremation followed. Funeral services will take place in Grand Falls-Windsor on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. from The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 7-9, Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Flowers greatly accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society. Mom will be greatly missed.
