McINTOSH, ALEXANDER - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dearly loved father, Alexander Leith McIntosh, FIME, C.Eng., devoted husband of Eileen (Jukes) McIntosh, which occurred July 30th 2014, following a year long battle with cancer. Born at Newtown Mearns, East Renfrewshire, Scotland, he was the youngest son of Robert and Elizabeth (Leitch) McIntosh. After qualifying as a Chief Engineer he joined Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, retiring as a Senior Ship and Engine Surveyor in 1988. For over 50 years he was a member of The Royal Standard Lodge, having served as Master in 1965. Dad had been a proud member of Westfield Golf & Country Club since 1967 and had many happy memories of time spent on the course with friends passed (Bruce, Frank, Matt and Ron) and present (Al, Artie, Billy, Don, Jim and Russell). In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by brother Robert (Margaret) McIntosh of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; special cousin Irene (Robert) Hunter of Paisley, Scotland and brothers-in-law Geoffrey Jukes, Colin (Kay) Jukes and Donald Jukes all of England. Surviving are daughter, Jane of Saint John, son, Robert of Vancouver and sisters-in-law Joan Jukes and Barbara Jukes, as well as several nieces and nephews, all of England.
Arrangements are under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). There will be no visiting or service. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Mearns Cemetery, Newton Mearns, Scotland later this year. Donations, if so wished, to the charity of the donor’s choice. At this time we would like to give special thanks to our father’s many friends from Westfield Golf & Country Club and Westfield Super Seniors Bowling whose friendship and company he enjoyed so much, especially since the unexpected death of our mother in 2006, as well as friends and neighbors for their kindness and concern over the past few weeks. WORTHY OF REMEMBRANCE
