Adelard J. “Duke” Leger, 95, of the Veterans’ Health Centre, and formerly of Elmwood Dr., passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Edmond and Alina (Petitpas) Leger. Adelard was a retired employee of the City of Moncton Water Dept. (Irishtown Reservoir), a member of Notre Dame de la Paix Roman Catholic Church and a member of Moncton Legion Branch #6. He loved animals and enjoyed bowling, playing darts and fixing things (“Mr. Fix It”), was very organized and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Adelard will be sadly missed by his wife, Florida Leger, Moncton; daughters, Elaine Clancy (Trevor), Steeves Settlement, Monique Leger, Moncton, Dianne Leger (Anita), Cap-Pelé, Pauline Leger (Claude LeBlanc), Moncton; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Nathan, Patrick, Gilles; sister, Theresa LeBlanc (Gene), Shediac; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Yvonne Leger (1999); sisters, Emilienne, Augusta, Rita and Claudia and brother, Alyre (Joe).
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 9:30 – 11:00 am, followed immediately by the Funeral Service in Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bernard Sloan officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
