Theresa O’Connell, a resident of Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully at the manor on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010. Theresa and her husband Syl are together now in God’s loving embrace.
Born in Sydney Mines, Jan. 19,1933, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (MacIntyre) Walsh.
Theresa was a former resident of Napoleon Street in North Sydney, and in earlier years she enjoyed bowling and bingo. Theresa’s summers could find her in any of the Maritime provinces during one of her impromptu car trips. She was a member of St. Joseph parish, North Sydney, and took great comfort in her strong Catholic faith.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Charmaine (Clayton) Penny, North Sydney; her son, Joe (Bernadette) O’Connell, Sydney Mines; three grandchildren, Melissa Penny, Krista and Aaron O’Connell; and by her great-grandson, Tristan O’Connell.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sylvester O’Connell and sisters, Rebecca Brogan and Mary Halliday.
Visitation for Theresa will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
